The first games of the season for the Chebucto Atlantics showed some real promise for this group. In the first away game Chebucto lost a narrow 1-0 battle against the Tasa Black U11AA squad. Some nerves were apparent as the TASA Black Ducks group presented the Atlantics with a constant attack and solid defensive play. The Atlantics held tight with a 0-0 tie heading into the 3rd and missed a few good chances, but the Ducks scored mid-way through the third for the single marker of the game. Wyatt Esbaugh put on a clinic in U11AA goaltending and came away with the player of the game and Stick of Awesomeness, but, like the team, salty at the loss of a duck dinner.
Next up was the Atlantics home opener againt the Dartmouth Whalers Gold squad and the Atlantics were ready to rock. Parker Douglas opened the scoring midway through the first on an assist from Sargeant-Greenwood, with the Whalers responding with 2 seconds left of the frame during a tough net scramble. From then on the Atlantics shut the door and poured on the juice with Bowen Cranston sniping the game winning goal from the Ovechin office top left circle. Avia Brown and Lokua Calvert added insurance markers. Philip Calvert was a tower on defence and took home the Stick of Awesomeness as player of the game.
After a health and conditioning stint the team is back at it Monday Nov 15th against a dynamic Halifax Hawks team Centennial at 6pm. Lets Bring the Noise. Go Atlantics!

It was definately duck hunting season for the U11AA Atlantics-Green as they rolled to a 6-1 road victory tonight against the TASA U11AA-Black club. The game saw 75 percent of the forwards taking a shift back on D and the strategy definetly paid off with a solid defensive effort, steady goaltending and relentless pursuit in the offensive zone. Bassam Nahas opened up the scoring with assists by Davis Hennebery and Lokua Calvert. Bassam followed that up soon after on a feed from Calvert as the "D.B.L." line was firing on all cylinders. Liam Jollimore also chipped in with two goals, along with Bowen Cranston and Grady Coombs collecting singles. Parker Douglas notched two assists while Carter Sutcliffe and Evan Sargeant-Greenwood each collected an apple apiece. Bassam walked out with the "Club of Awesomeness" as player of the game.

The visiting U11AA Green Atlantics came out hard against the Sackville U11AA Flyers home squad to jump out to a 1-0 lead with a roof daddy goal by Bowen Cranston. In a tightly contested game the momentum shifted back and forth with Sackville evening the score late in the first period. Battling to a deadlocked second period, Lokua Calvert scored early in the third to keep his 2 game scoring streak alive with a close in backhand. Sackville responded shortly afterwards to knot the game and the teams continued to battle to a dead heat with Wyatt Esbaugh making several close in saves. The Machine looked to be going home from scenenic Sackville with a tie until some questionable clock management added 5 extra minutes to the official time ruining the coaching staffs meticulously thought out game plan. The strong Sackville squad scored late with a desperate push to please the home town crowd sending the Machine away hungry and looking foward to the Oct 28th rematch back home at the Lions. Jaxson Farmer took home the "Club of Awesomeness" as player of the game in a gritty effort playing both forward and defense.
The Green Machine now heads into a busy practice schedule and then is on the road again all the way to Exit 5 off the 103 for another stiff test against TASA U11AA Black Oct 27th 7:15pm. Mark it on your calendars folks as this game will no doubt be another spectacle as we tune up for the regular season.
