Wings Battle to a 2–2 Draw Against Bedford White at the Greenfoot Energy Center
BEDFORD — The Wings rolled into Bedford on Saturday afternoon, hitting the ice at the Greenfoot Energy Center for their matchup against Bedford White. The boys showed up ready to grind, and they delivered a thriller that ended in a gritty 2–2 tie.
The opening period was tight, with both teams trading chances but neither side able to crack the scoreboard. Then came the second—and that’s when the Wings really got buzzing.
#2 Cooper Norris turned on the playmaker mode, sliding a beauty of a feed to #7 Blake Matthews, who walked in and ripped one bar-down to open the scoring. The Wings bench lit right up. Minutes later, Norris struck again with another smooth dish, this time to #20 James Smith, who buried it clean to make it 2–0 and get the boys rolling.
But Bedford came out flying in the third. They pushed hard, tossed pucks on net from everywhere, and managed to pot two to tie things up. What followed was a frantic final stretch—end-to-end rushes, scrambles in the crease, and no shortage of heart from both squads. Neither team could find the game-winner before the buzzer.
One Wings player, though, was unreal from start to finish.
The Player of the Game, sponsored by the number one pizza joint Anapolie Pizza, goes to the sr tendy Joey Chidiac. The kid was an absolute beauty between the pipes, flashing the leather and snatching pucks like Mr. Miyagi catching flies with chopsticks. Bedford threw everything but the kitchen sink at him, and he stood tall all game long.
The Wings leave Bedford with a well-earned point—and a whole lot of confidence as they keep pushing forward this season.
