Wings Come Close in Hard-Fought Battle Against Bedford Blue

COLE HARBOUR — Monday night’s matchup in the home barn delivered everything a hockey fan could ask for: pace, grit, and a team that refused to quit. The Wings may have fallen 4–3 to Bedford Blue, but the storyline was all heart, all hustle, and all effort from puck drop to the final buzzer.

The opening period stayed tight until the dying moments, when Bedford struck first and momentarily silenced the crowd. But the Wings wasted no time answering back—less than 30 seconds later, Blake Matthews threaded a perfect feed to Cooper Norris, who buried it to swing momentum right back to the home side.

The second period played out much the same. Bedford found the net late, but Wings goaltender Joey Chidiac turned heads all night long, flashing leather with some of the filthiest glove saves seen this season. And just when Bedford thought they had the edge, Matthews once again powered his way to the net. When the shot wasn’t there, he sent the puck across to Norris for the cleanest redirect of the game. Two kids, two goals each at that point, and the Wings were right in the fight.

Heading into the third, the mission was simple: find the go-ahead goal. And while Bedford managed to pot two, the Wings kept battling. Player of the Game Harrison Lind, sponsored by Mr. Propane, was the heartbeat of the team. His work ethic, energy, and determination were undeniable, keeping his squad pushing shift after shift. His presence didn’t just show— it lifted the team.

With time ticking away, Chidiac hit the bench for the extra attacker, and the Wings threw everything they had toward the crease. With eight seconds left, Norris let one fly and completed the hat trick, giving the Wings and their fans one last surge of electricity.

Bedford takes it 4–3, but the Wings proved they’re never out of a game—not with this kind of fight in them.

Until next time—keep your sticks on the ice and your heads up. The Wings will be back!
