Wings Fall 4–1 to Bedford Blue, but Show Heart on Home Ice

Last night at Scotia 2, the Wings faced off against the Bedford Blue in what proved to be another tough matchup on home ice. Despite the final score of 4–1 in favor of the Blue, the Wings battled hard from start to finish, showing determination and grit until the final buzzer.

The Blue came out strong, capitalizing on their chances and holding the Wings scoreless through much of the game. But this Wings team wasn’t about to let Bedford skate away with a shutout. Late in the third period, #8 Van Dusen broke through the Blue defense and buried one to get the Wings on the board, with assists coming from #4 Anderson and #16 Sampson. The bench erupted, and the goal was a well-earned reward for a team that never stopped pushing.

One player in particular stood out for his all-around effort — #14 Ellis Young, who earned Player of the Game, proudly sponsored by Omega Formwork Inc. Young’s relentless play and willingness to put his body on the line set the tone for his teammates and drew praise from coaches and fans alike.

With a few days to reset and refocus, the Wings will look to bounce back when they hit the road on Saturday, November 1st, for a rematch against Bedford Blue at the Greenfoot Energy Centre. Puck drop is at 12 noon, and the Wings are determined to return the favor on Bedford’s home ice.

Stay tuned, Wings fans — this team’s story is still being written.

Wings Drop Home Opener 2–0 to TASA Black, Rookie Goalie Steals the Show

Cole Harbour — The barn was buzzing last night for the Wings’ long-awaited home opener, but the TASA Black Ducks came to play and left with a 2–0 win in a gritty showdown under the Scotia 2 lights.

Sure, we could chalk it up to tired legs, heavy ice, or a long weekend of hockey — but let’s call it like it is: TASA flat-out outplayed our Wings from puck drop to the final buzzer. The Ducks brought the heat, and our squad just couldn’t find that extra gear.

That said, there was one player who refused to let this game get away. Between the pipes, rookie tendy Andrew Casavechia put on an absolute clinic. The kid was dialed in — flashing the leather, stacking the pads, and standing tall against relentless pressure. Without him, this one could’ve been a full-on highlight reel for the Ducks. No question about it — Andrew earned that Player of the Game puck, and then some.

Even with the loss, the Wings left the rink smiling and still full of that team energy that makes them who they are. You could see it — no hanging heads, no pointing fingers. Just a group that knows this was a wake-up call and that they’ll bounce back stronger.

These Wings might have had their wings clipped last night, but make no mistake — they’re not grounded. They’ll shake it off, tighten things up, and be ready to fly next game.

Until next time, Black Ducks — enjoy the win while you can.
