Conditioning Camps

Deadline to register for conditioning camps is 5:00pm Friday September 2

We will be hitting the ice Saturday September 10 until September 30.

  • Registered players will receive 6 sessions on ice (1 hour each).
  • Practice plans are being developed for each age division so that ice-times are consistent no matter what the group.
  • The approach to our camps are athlete-centered which combines tempo and skills continuously while promoting overall development.
  • Players will be challenged with endurance building skating exercises that makes them comfortable on skates again.
  • We will build up to flow drills that help create confidence in skills and executions.
  • Players will touch the puck in both low intensity and high tempo drills.
  • Sessions 5 & 6 will focus on drills that players will see during the tryout process. (*for players not registered for conditioning camps - tryout drills will be shared ahead of the tryouts)
  • All levels of play (C-B-A-AA) are invited to register.
  • We wish we could share a schedule right now, however, registrations are still being received and this will have impact on how many groups we create. We want to ensure when we share a schedule that it is final.
  • Groupings and all ice times will be shared September 5.

Conditioning camps are for U9-U11-U13-U15-U18 divisions.

What to expect with 2022 Conditioning Camps?

  • 6 sessions included
  • Groups for Conditioning Camps will be based on a combination of birth years and last level played. Not Alphabetical. This is to ensure we are following Hockey Canada guidelines of ensuring players are put into environments that support their Long-Term Player Development (LTPD). Players develop at a quicker rate when surrounded by players that share the same level of hockey progression. There are no evaluations, and notes are not being kept during Conditioning Camps.
  • Pre-determined practice plans to be used for improved flow and efficiency.
  • The focus is on easy-to-understand drills with as many reps as possible.
  • Improved Coach Consistency. A Head Coach will lead all ice-times for the dedicated session number for their age division. (Example - All of session 2 for 4 groups over 4 hours). This will ensure players receive the same coaching no matter what group they fall into.
  • Registered Goalies will receive a warmup as designed by our Goalie Development Program, and they will be put into environments for personal development.
  • At least 6 coaches on ice for u9-u11-u13
  • At least 5 coaches for u15-u18

All practices will contain a quick warmup with 10-15 minutes of high tempo skating, followed by stations with a focus on the skills required to ready our players for the upcoming season. Players will have water-hydration breaks. Plans support both the forward and defensive player positions.

Session 1 – Return to Basics (skating, endurance, puck control)

Session 2 – Skating/Puck Control

Session 3 – Goal Scoring/Shooting/Passing

Session 4 – VS Battles/Compete/Cross Ice games (non-contact for u15-u18)

Session 5 – Preview/Run-through of Individual Tryout drills

Session 6 – Preview/Run-through of Tactical Tryout drills (non-contact for u15-u18)

Please Note – We are doing the same drills for tryouts as in years past. For players who did not register for tryouts, these drills are still station/drill based and support skills development.

For parents who did not sign up for Conditioning Camps. The tryout drills will be explained to you in a shared document that will be coming out mid-September.

Looking forward to seeing you on the ice!
